Today we are going to talk about across the body shoulder stretch. This is a great exercise to stretch your shoulder joints and requires no equipment to perform.

This exercise helps reduce shoulder stiffness & tightness and improve blood circulation in your shoulder joints & muscles. It will also increase the range of motion & flexibility of your shoulder joints & help reduce shoulder pain.

How to do shoulder cross body stretch:

Start Position: Stand tall with your feet shoulder width apart, toes pointing forward.

Movements:

(i) Lift your left arm so as to raise it straight out in front of you in line with your shoulder. Now, bring it straight across your body at chest level so that your thumb is pointed up toward the sky.

(ii) Use your right forearm to hold the left arm above the elbow and keep it in place during the stretch. Push your left arm towards your chest until you feel the stretch in your shoulder.

(iii) Hold for 10 to 30 seconds, and then switch arms and repeat.

You may perform stretch in seating position also.
