How can you be physically fit and stay independent as you age, even over 70?  Fitness Buffhq shares his top five tips for a long, fit and independent life.

Top 5 Tips For A Long & Fit Life

# 1

Do some physical exercise every day

Staying active is an absolute must. So keep moving to stay moving. Fitness Buffhq explained: “I had surgery a few months ago, and the doctor told me I could recover fast because I’ve been following a very active and healthy lifestyle.”

# 2

Switch between strength and aerobic – and don’t forget to rest

Staying active doesn’t require you to follow a strenuous workout plan daily. Fitness Buffhq said that aerobic exercises (such as brisk walking, jogging, cycling, and swimming) and strength exercises (such as weight training) make for the most well-rounded fitness-focused lifestyle.

Don’t force yourself to work out all seven days a week. My secret to avoiding injury in old age is staying active but being patient with recovery,” he said. He explained he was able to come back from the surgery by diligently following his physical therapy program and waiting to return to strength and aerobic exercises until he got the green light from his doctor.

# 3

Exercise outside when weather permits—especially by walking

No matter what your age is, Fitness Buffhq says that regular long walks can be highly beneficial. Besides boosting your cardio health, exercising outside can improve your vitamin D levels and work miracles for your mood – particularly during the gloomier winter months.

# 4

Don’t forget about mental fitness

As you age, your body isn’t the only thing you have to think about to stay fit. You also need to strengthen your mind through puzzle games, playing cards, and other similar activities that engage and stimulate your brain.

# 5

Enjoy the process

Hard as you may try any process to keep fit, you are unlikely to follow that process consistently if you despise it. That’s why Fitness Buffhq emphasizes the importance of finding a physical activity you enjoy.

Fitness Buffhq explains: “Whatever your age, my main advice, especially for senior people, is that you do physical activities that you enjoy doing them.
